Club’s 100th Birthday Celebrations
Wednesday 31st October 2018
Tuesday 30th October 2018 was The Royal Air Force Club’s official 100th Birthday, and it was a day of huge celebration. The Club was decorated throughout with balloons, banners and bunting, with live music greeting members as they arrived and even a centenary ice sculpture.
We held both a Birthday Afternoon Tea and an Evening Reception in our newly renamed Sovereigns’ Room, which included live vintage entertainment from the wonderful Satin Dollz, a huge afternoon tea buffet and of course lots of bubbles!
Elsewhere in the Club, we had a celebratory ‘Birthday’ menu in the Dining Room, ‘Best of British’ platters in the Running Horse, tours of our new Centenary extension, and plenty of birthday cake to go around. We were very proud to have our new portrait of Her Majesty The Queen on display in the Sovereigns’ Room and showcase our stunning ‘Women in the Service of the RAF’ stained glass window.
It was a brilliant day for both staff & members, and one which encapsulated the truly unforgettable centenary year we’ve had so far. A huge thank you to everybody involved in making it an exceptional Club birthday.
