On Wednesday 27th March, we held our Club Dinner & members' trip to see the Ceremony of the Keys with a private evening tour of the Tower of London from Beefeater Spike Abbott.
St Clement Danes is the central church of the Royal Air Force. The church has a long and rich history, having been founded in the 9th century and almost destroyed by German bombs during the London Blitz on 10 May 1941.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Bleriot Anniversary Air Race, a group of amateur cyclists led by the Grandsons of both Air Vice Marshall Charles Maughan and Air Vice Marshall Brian Plenderleith will be racing from Marble Arch to the Arc de Triomphe in August 2019.
A keen and active member of the RAF Club, the late Flight Lieutenant Richard Dick, often known as Dicky Dick, passed away on 31st January 2019 aged 94 Years.
On 13th March, 2019, the Club hosted an enthralling 'Tornado Down' Club Dinner with Sqn Ldr John Peters, in which he recalled his time as an Iraqi POW during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
The Club was privileged to host member & Stalag Luft III POW Air Cdre Charles Clarke OBE & actor John Leyton ‘Willie The Tunnel King’ from the classic 1963 film The Great Escape yesterday, ahead of the official 75th anniversary screening & event on 24/03.
The Club is delighted to announce that we have been ranked the 15th Best Not for Profit Organisation to work for in the UK 2019, a leap of 15 places on last year, the Club’s first year of entering.
The Club’s Chairman Sue Gray has today become the first female to attain the three star rank of Air Marshal in the Royal Air Force.
On Friday 1st February the Club hosted a Bedford Blues reunion lunch, and some very special guests were in attendance!
