Black Tie Gala Dinner with General (ret) T. Michael Moseley, USAF, KBE
Sunday 13th April 2025
We were delighted to welcome General (Ret.) T. Michael Moseley, USAF, KBE, to our Friends of the RAF Club Spring Gala Dinner, hosted by Club Chair, Air Vice-Marshal The Honourable David Murray CVO, OBE, DL, and Club President, Air Marshal Sir David Walker KCVO, OBE, DL.
Over 70 Friends joined us for an entertaining and insightful evening, as fellow Club member General Moseley reflected on his 40+ year military career and his tenure as the 18th Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force.
During his service, General Moseley was responsible for planning and executing joint and coalition air and space operations across numerous global conflicts. These included operations against Taliban and Al-Qaeda forces in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom), counterterrorism efforts along the Horn of Africa and in Yemen, and campaigns in Iraq (Operation Southern Watch, Operation Northern Watch, and Operation Iraqi Freedom).
As the senior Airman in the U.S. military, overseeing the organising, training, and equipping of over 700,000 personnel across Active Duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, and Civilian sectors, General Moseley offered rare insight into the intersection of American security, defence, and policy—perspectives made even more relevant in light of recent global events.
Members were truly privileged to hear his candid and humorous recollections, particularly his experiences working closely with British counterparts. The 'special relationship' between the U.S. and Royal Air Forces is indeed alive and well!
We extend our sincere thanks to both the kitchen and front-of-house teams for their superb efforts, and to all the Friends who joined us. These events are a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow members and celebrate the generosity of those who support the Club throughout the year.
