Celebrating 100 years at 128 Piccadilly

Friday 25th February 2022

To mark the centenary of the opening of the Royal Air Force Club at 128 Piccadilly, the Club held two celebratory events to mark this special milestone.

Firstly we were lucky to have the brilliant Wg Cdr Michael Gilbert, a historian and a former Club Trustee, who gave a very interesting and informative talk over a lunch on 17th February. Michael told the fascinating story of Lord Cowdray's generous donation, his vision and his drive overcoming post-war obstacles and his unwavering inspiration which was crowned with success when No.128 opened its doors to the officers of the Royal Air Force in January 2022.

Last week, 24th February marked another special milestone for the Club as one hundred years ago, on this day, the Royal Air Force Club opened its doors to Members by the then, Duke of York. We celebrated in the Cowdray Lounge with canapes, champagne, Gin cocktails and a beautiful cake. One hundred Members and their guests attended, including the Club Trustees and members of the Club's management team. The Chairman, AVM David Murray welcomed all guests and Flt Lt Colin Bell helped cut the cake. The RAF Salon Orchestra were a wonderful addition to the evening. We hope you enjoy browsing through some of the photos.

We would like to thank all those Members who were part of our celebrations and those who were not able to make it, we hope to see you at your Club soon!
